Continuing on with our terrarium series, in the prior video, we talked about the various plant options. As you can see, I have a plethora of accessories for the terrariums, as well as the plants that we recently discussed. This plant won’t be included, but this is a pepperomia. However, they do have miniature varieties of that plant that can be used. For now, I’m going to put it aside since it’s not going to be used and replace that spot with a really cool accessory.

There are lots of nice accessories out there, such as elves and gnomes. I plan to create a holiday-oriented terrarium, so here’s a cute little mouse for a holiday scene. You can also use bridges, and you might find signs with phrases like “Good Morning,” “Happy Holidays,” or whatever theme you’re going with.

Another fun accessory could be mirrors. You can bury a little mirror into the scene to create a pond effect. In this case, it could be a pond that isn’t frozen over, and you could have a little elf looking at its reflection. You can also use flat stones that you’ve found. As you can see, there’s a lot of variation in what you can include in your garden.

However, you don’t want to overdo it. Putting too much in one terrarium can lead to a cluttered look, and often, you can’t even fit everything in. I suggest planning out your terrariums with the plants and various accessories. You may have more accessories than you need, but you can save them for your next terrarium. This way, you can avoid cramming everything into one space, which can result in a look like a cluttered apartment or closet.

I plan to do a Christmas scene in this one, so I need to decide what plants will look good. I have this plant that resembles lights on a Christmas tree, which could fit nicely. However, this will be my only plant for now, so it’s a possibility. Another option is these beautiful cyclamen, which could also be included.

If you’re uncertain, try matching your accessories to the plants themselves. For instance, if I place one of these plants here, it’s a nice combination with reds and whites. If I wanted to add smaller accessories, I could use two or three little elves or a dog with a holiday shirt. However, if I prefer something more permanent, I might consider longer-lasting plants.

When selecting a container, make sure it’s one you can fit your hand into. I have this fishbowl that can serve as a backup. If this container doesn’t work out, I can create my scene in the fishbowl, which offers more room for additional items.

For my second terrarium, I’m looking to create a more long-term arrangement that isn’t holiday-oriented. I’m examining color combinations, and this little African violet could work nicely with a fairy house. I can easily access this container for planning, but with the African violet, I may need to make another decision since it occupies a lot of space.

I have some spike moss plants that could create a forest scene. These could be paired with little fairies or bunnies for an enchanting look. It’s fun to see what combinations work, keeping in mind the rule of threes for a visually pleasing arrangement.

Now, I’m considering different options for the terrarium. The goal is to mix and match and see what fits well together. It’s important to have varying heights among the plants for visual contrast, making the arrangement more engaging.

Finally, I’ve made my selections for this terrarium. I’m excited about creating a forest theme with fairies and bunnies, which will look lovely. I might also add some marbles for extra color and fun.
