Today, I’m going to talk to you about why you should water with warm water and why it’s not a good idea to use cold water. In today’s video, we have Henry, who has been the star of my series on getting rid of root rot in houseplants. He’s doing really well, especially since the last follow-up video. He even has a nice new leaf!

One of the reasons Henry is thriving is because I’ve been watering him with warm water. Before watering any plant, it’s important to ensure it’s ready. But why warm water? Often, we’re in a hurry and just want to quickly water our plants. However, cold water can harm the roots, leading to root die-back and potentially causing root rot.

Another issue with cold water is it can cause brown spotting on leaves, especially noticeable in winter. The temperature difference matters: indoor plants are accustomed to room temperature (around 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit), whereas outdoor tap water can be much colder (30-40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower).

Henry is dry and ready for watering now. I’m using lukewarm water—not hot, as that can also harm plants. Henry gets a thorough soaking, ensuring the water reaches all parts of the root ball. After watering, I’ll drain any excess water from the dish to prevent waterlogging.

That wraps up today’s tips on watering with warm water. Please leave any comments about indoor gardening tutorials you’d like to see next. Don’t forget to like, comment, subscribe, and share this video!
