Today, we have a plant spotlight video on Algerian Ivy. I have a care video on this plant, which I will link below, as well as any other videos I mention in this video.

I’m doing a quick spotlight on this beautiful plant because it tends to be one of the easier ivies to grow indoors. Many people find ivy challenging to grow indoors, but this one is one of the easier varieties. If you would like to try ivies in your indoor garden, I would definitely consider Algerian Ivy, also known botanically as Hedera algeriensis.

Algerian Ivy is native to coastal mountains in Algeria and the North African coast. Outdoors, this species of ivy can be invasive in some climates and reach up to 80 feet long. Indoors, it’s much tamer, so don’t be concerned about it taking over your house. In fact, you’d probably be happy if it grew that well, or at least grew very well indoors.

While Algerian Ivy will grow tall and trail indoors, it’s not going to grow as long as it does outdoors or take over your house. I believe that the fact it is such an aggressive grower outdoors is likely the reason it’s one of the easier ivies to grow indoors.

There are various species of Algerian Ivy. Some of the smaller-leaved varieties are used for topiary, which you can also grow indoors. If you’re looking to grow topiary indoors, I would suggest using Algerian Ivy as you will have better luck than with some of the other ivies.

So, there you go, a quick spotlight on this beautiful ivy. If you have the opportunity to grow this ivy indoors, I suggest doing so. If you find a nice plant, go ahead and snap it up and start growing it. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much easier this one is to grow than some of the other ivies.
