Heart-Leaf Philodendron Revival (Part 2)

In this video, we check in with George, the heart-leaf philodendron (Philodendron hederaceaum) we started reviving a little more than 3 months ago. The plant is now thriving and growing well. See how well it’s doing now.

Hello and welcome to HealthyHouseplants.com, where we teach you all about gardening in the great indoors! If you’d like to support our show, please use our Amazon affiliate link below.

Today, we are checking in with George, our beautiful heartleaf philodendron in the lime green variety. We started a revival on George back in June, and now that it’s October, he has had some growth time and is doing very well! As you can see, there is a lot of new growth at the ends of the vines. This particular variety starts out a light lime green, and as the leaves mature, they transition to a darker lime green.

George is healthy, happy, and thriving. When I repotted him, I used a smaller pot than he was originally in, as you can see in the previous video. He still does not need a larger pot yet. I often talk about the two-thirds plant to one-third pot ratio, and George still maintains that balance. With vining plants, you can hold them up to estimate, and in this case, it’s still approximately two-thirds plant and one-third pot.

I do not want to move him into a bigger pot right now, as that could cause some problems like he experienced before. It will likely be another two or three months before he is ready for the next pot size up. At that time, we’ll check in with him again and pot him up.

When I started the revival, I used Pro Mix BX, and I will include a link for that below, along with my Green Gourmet house plant food. At this point, George does not need fertilization; he is nice and green, vibrant, and producing a lot of new foliage. I will probably fertilize him in three to four weeks.

Most likely, I will pot him up in a couple of months, and we will check in with him then. He is definitely a beauty! Once he becomes full and large in several months, I will be able to place him in a nice pot where he can spill over the sides. These plants also make beautiful hanging arrangements.

Thank you for stopping by today! Please leave any comments about any indoor gardening tutorials you’d like to see. Remember to like, comment, subscribe, and share this video, and don’t forget to check the bell if you’d like to be notified when new videos are released.
