Chock full of recipes, tips and 400 photographs, the book reveals complete instructions for creating 100 living plant décor creations. Each eye-candy recipe lays out what you’ll need, from plants to containers, although Chapman encourages adding your own brand of creativity.
Use the book as you would a recipe book in the kitchen, says Chapman, who runs Lila B. Design in San Francisco’s Mission District, which provides living centerpieces for events, as well as interior plant styling and design for small urban spaces.

“If you like the shape of a bowl that you have in your collection or want to substitute plants, go ahead and do so,” says Chapman, “The book is meant is meant to inspire and get you moving in the right direction. You can get a new container, or use what you already have on-hand.”
The book contains a wide variety of projects, from multi-ingredient, fairly complex recipes to quick and uncomplicated. When coming up with an idea, Chapman suggests first thinking about the purpose of your indoor living plant arrangement.
“Do you want a stunning centerpiece for a dinner party that will be ephemeral, or something that will last?” she says. “Determining the style is also important—for instance, vintage or modern? Whatever style you do choose, have fun.”
