Today, we have a plant spotlight for this beautiful plant known as Stromanthe sanguinea ‘Triostar,’ also known as Stromanthe thalia ‘Triostar.’ This gorgeous plant is a showstopper with its vivid color combination of pink, cream, and forest green on the upper part of the leaves, and an absolutely stunning burgundy color on the underside, which I just absolutely love.

As mentioned, this is a real showstopper. This is the type of plant that you will notice first when you walk into your indoor garden. As far as variegation goes, this is a truly beautiful and striking example of a variegated plant.

I do have a care video for this plant, which I will link below, as well as any other videos I mention in this video. This video is a spotlight on this plant and why you might want to give growing one a try.

Stromanthe sanguinea ‘Triostar’ is native to the jungles of Brazil, where it grows in the understory. It is a member of the Marantaceae family, which means it is related to prayer plants, Calathea, and Tenantha, all of which are known for their striking color patterns on variegated leaves. Especially with Tenantha, they even have a similar leaf shape.

As a member of the prayer plant family, Stromanthe will often fold up its leaves at night. When it does this, it shows off that beautiful maroon or burgundy color on the underside of its leaves, which I just find, as I said, very, very beautiful.

Stromanthe sanguinea ‘Triostar’ is often called Stromanthe ‘Tricolor,’ and that is because of the three colors on the top of the leaves. Although there’s a fourth color on the underside as well, the ‘Triostar’ and ‘Tricolor’ names both reference that three-color combination on the top of the leaves.

This plant has been recognized for its stunning variegation by the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association, which named Stromanthe sanguinea ‘Triostar’ a Florida Plant of the Year. So, you’re looking at a Florida Plant of the Year, and it can be grown outdoors in the mild climate of that state.

There you go, a close-up look at this eye-catching, absolutely gorgeous plant. If you have a chance to grow one of these in your indoor garden, I would highly, highly recommend it.
