Update on My Channel: Why I’ve been posting less frequently

Find out why I’ve been posting less frequently and about some changes to my channel. Note: This video was made about 6 weeks ago, and so far the “limited ads” situation affecting my ad revenue is the same. So this seems to be the new normal. Ways to support my channel–All are much appreciated! 🙂

Hi, welcome to Healthy House Plants, where I teach you all about gardening in The Great Indoors. Today’s video is going to be a little bit different than usual—actually, a lot different—because I’m going to update you on my channel.

First of all, I’m not going away; I’m here to stay. However, there are going to be some changes because of something that happened about six weeks ago on my channel, and that is that I got a notification from YouTube that my ads had been limited due to invalid traffic. I did, of course, look into the situation right away to find out what’s going on, and I discovered that this is happening to a lot of YouTubers. Unfortunately, it is resulting in significant loss of ad revenue. My ad revenue, because of this, plummeted by 80%, which is pretty significant.

That being said, I’ve had to regroup a little bit and figure out what I’m going to do. Now, as far as the invalid traffic goes, as mentioned, it is not something that I’m doing purposely. There doesn’t seem to be a source, and this has happened for a lot of YouTubers. When you do reach out for support, there really is no support—just a standard response advising you not to do things that you’re already not doing. For instance, watching my own videos for hours on end so that I would be watching my ads. But I have it set up so I don’t ever watch ads, so there we go. They also suggest that viewers may be doing this, but I doubt you’re doing it. Most likely, you’re trying to keep your house plants healthy and happy, and you have better things to do, right?

So, the point being, there really is no rhyme or reason to any of this. Whether or not it will resolve is up in the air. For some channels, it does; for others, it doesn’t. It can take three weeks, six weeks, three months, or even six months.

That being said, I’ve had to make some changes, and one of those changes is that I am now posting less frequently, which you may have noticed. For the time being, this is going to continue. However, I am going to be posting more frequently on my Patreon. If you’d like to join, there will be a lot more videos on there.

As I said, to make up the difference, I am a garden author, as you may know if you’ve been following me, and I have multiple income streams. I’ve been putting more time and energy into those other income streams for obvious reasons, right? Anyway, as mentioned, you can check out my Patreon—the link is below. There are also lots of other ways that you can support me, such as liking, commenting, and subscribing, which help as well. You can join my newsletter (link below for that) or check out my store where I sell things like my Green Gourmet House Plant Food (link below). If you’d like to make a one-time donation, there’s a link below for that too.

There are plenty of ways that you can support me, which is much appreciated, so that I can continue to deliver content on how to garden in The Great Indoors and help you have a really good experience with your house plants. This is my 10th year on YouTube, believe it or not, and I plan on spending another 10 years here if possible, because I really do appreciate all of you and I love teaching you all about my first love—house plants.

I currently have 611 videos for you to watch, so there’s plenty of content out there. As mentioned, I will be adding more, just not as much as before. Thank you so much for your support, and for all your comments and likes. I love you all, and I’m really looking forward to continuing to teach you all about gardening in The Great Indoors.
